Taylor Swift fans have expressed their disapproval of Travis Kelce following an incident at the Super Bowl.
Kelce, 35, who played in Super Bowl 59 as the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Philadelphia Eagles, was asked about Donald Trump’s upcoming attendance at the game.
In response, he stated: m”It’s a great honor, no matter who the president is,” and added, “I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there – it’s the best country in the world so it’d be pretty cool.”
This reaction did not sit well with Swift’s devoted fanbase, known as Swifties, particularly given Swift’s well-documented opposition to Trump.
The singer previously endorsed Kamala Harris in the election and has openly criticized Trump’s actions and rhetoric. Trump himself has not held back, having publicly stated that he ‘hates Taylor Swift’ following her political endorsements.
Some fans voiced their disappointment on social media, with one user writing: “So sad to see my girl surrounded by so many bad company, like Blake Lively, Brittany Mahomes, and now her own boyfriend. Taylor, girl, you better run.”
Others were more direct, such as one who said: “If my boyfriend says it’s a great honor to have the man that slanders me constantly, I would break up with him immediately.”
Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes, was previously linked to pro-Trump sentiments, adding to fans’ concerns about the company Swift keeps.
However, others defended Kelce’s neutral stance, noting that as an NFL player, he is likely advised to remain apolitical.
One fan pointed out: “Considering how targeted Taylor has been the last few years, this response to me shows neutrality and he is being careful to not say something that will make Taylor a target… ‘no matter who the president is’ says it all imo.”
Kelce’s teammate, Patrick Mahomes, made similar comments, saying: “It’s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president. Someone that is at the top position in our country.”

Despite the controversy, sources suggest that Swift remains unaffected by the backlash.
An insider shared: “Taylor is not angry at Travis for what he said. He was speaking on behalf of his team and fans, and he would have said the same thing regardless of who the president was.”
While some fans remain critical, Swift appears focused on supporting Kelce at the Super Bowl, continuing to be his biggest cheerleader.
Swift has previously made her political stance clear, notably criticizing Trump in 2020 for: “stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism.”
She recently endorsed Kamala Harris, referring to herself as a ‘Childless Cat Lady’ in response to Vice President JD Vance’s comments.
