Bibi’s Heartache: Missing Dad but Finding Strength in Love

It had been a few days since Dad had gone on a work trip, and little Bibi was feeling the weight of his absence. Every morning, Bibi would sit at the breakfast table, staring at his plate of food. “I don’t feel like eating,” he mumbled sadly, pushing his banana slices around.

His adoptive mother tried everything to cheer him up—making his favorite snacks, telling funny stories, and even playing his favorite music. But Bibi’s heart ached too much.

One afternoon, while sitting by the window, Bibi sighed deeply as he clutched Dad’s old scarf. “I miss him so much,” he said, tears welling up in his eyes. “When will he come back?”

His adoptive mother knelt beside him and gave him a comforting hug. “I know you miss your dad, sweetheart. He misses you too, but he’ll be back very soon. Would you like to write him a letter or draw him a picture to tell him how you feel?”

Bibi wiped his tears and thought for a moment. “Maybe a picture… and a letter too!”

They spent the evening together, with Bibi drawing a big heart surrounded by stars and bananas—his favorite things. He also wrote, with his mother’s help:

“Dear Dad,
I miss you so much. Please come home soon. I’ve been sad, but I’ll try to eat and be strong because I know you’d want me to. I love you.
Love,
Bibi”

His mother smiled. “This will make your dad so happy. Let’s send it to him right away.”

That night, Bibi ate a small dinner, thinking about how excited Dad would be to see his picture and letter. A few days later, there was a surprise: a video call from Dad!

“Bibi!” Dad’s face lit up on the screen. “I got your letter and picture. It’s the best gift ever! I’ll be home in two more days, and we’ll have a big hug and a special meal together.”

Bibi’s eyes sparkled with joy. “Really, Dad? I can’t wait!”

From that moment, Bibi felt a little stronger, knowing Dad was thinking of him. And when Dad finally came home, Bibi ran into his arms, laughing and smiling brighter than ever.
